Our recommendation for the perfect day out: visit the Alpsee and then the high ropes course in Immenstadt. Germany's longest year-round toboggan run with a length of three kilometres and a climbing forest with 16 courses of varying difficulty levels. A great destination for families, around 15 km from the hotel.

We love rain: Sometimes that's the invitation you need to do something different. Immenstadt-Diepolz is home to a living museum where you can understand, join in and slow down. At an altitude of over 1,037 metres, with interesting facts about dairy and alpine farming, a herb garden and a petting zoo. Only around 28 km from the Birkenhof.

Oberstdorf is home to the deepest rocky gorge in Central Europe. Discover a special natural experience on a hike through the deep, millennia-old gorges and polished water hollows. A "cooling" excursion destination on hot days and also unique in winter with long icicles like ice crystals. Around 42 km from the hotel.

On foot or with the popular Pfänderbahn railway, you can climb the local mountain of Vorarlberg. At the top, you can enjoy a unique panoramic view over the whole of Lake Constance as far as the Bregenzerwald. Visit the wildlife park or stop off at one of the inns. Stroll through the beautiful old town or along the promenade with cafés and restaurants right by the harbour. From Lindau, you can also take a boat trip through the border triangle of Germany, Austria and Switzerland. A special holiday experience on the Swabian Sea, as Lake Constance is also known. Mighty rock faces, rushing waterfalls, deep swirling holes and huge boulders - this is the Eistobel near Maierhöfen in the West Allgäu. The path meanders through the gorge along the stream, making it well worth a visit on hot summer days. Around 19 km from the Birkenhof.

In the middle of an idyllic landscape near Reutte in Tyrol, surrounded by kilometres of forests and imposing mountains, the "Highline179" spans the valley at a height and length of 114 m x 406 m, connecting the historic Ehrenberg castle ruins with Fort Claudia. According to the Guinness Book of Records, it is the "longest Tibet-style pedestrian suspension bridge in the world".

The Inatura in Dornbirn, Vorarlberg combines nature, man and technology in its exhibition. The museum includes interactive games and video projections as well as live small animals and animal specimens you can touch. A permanent exhibition with unusual, historical interior architecture and technical stations - the Science Zones.

The Rolls Royce Museum is also located in Dornbirn. Important models, engines and accessories can be admired here.
