Andrea and Thomas with Mia and Maxime - we are your hosts at the Birkenhof in Oberstaufen-Steibis. Maybe you'll be the first to meet us when you arrive. But definitely during your stay. We took over the four-star hotel from Thomas' parents Fredi and Anneliese in 2017 and transformed it with our team into the nature and gourmet hotel it is today. It is important to us that we always feel our roots, but also spread our wings and dare to try new things. This is exactly what makes us so special.
We have been running our family business in the second generation for over 40 years. It all started with a small guest house, which we transformed from a Schroth cure hotel into the nature and gourmet hotel we are today. What has remained is our connection to the region, our values and our warm hospitality. We love this place, which we continue to develop every day together with our employees.

Fredi & Anneliese open the Birkenhof as a guest house in Oberstaufen-Steibis
1981
We continue to develop into a Schroth cure hotel with 16 beds
1995
Hotel extension & expansion to 35 beds with new wellness area
1996
Expansion to a four-star hotel with a new restaurantkitchen & panoramic terrace for half board or à la carte

Generation change with hotel takeover by son Thomas & Andrea

Renamed Nature & Connoisseur Hotel and certified Schroth Cure Hotel

New wellness area with outdoor sauna, infrared lounge, relaxation room with floating loungers, 2 new Himmelreich suites& 1 garden flat

New natural swimming pond in a marvellous panoramic location with sunbathing areas
